Summary.  The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of testosterone propionate and vitamin E on the antioxidant system in the testis. Thirty‐two male New Zealand White rabbits were randomly divided into four groups. The first group was used as control. The second group was injected with testosterone propionate, the third group vitamin E and the fourth group vitamin E and testosterone propionate combination. All treatments were carried out during 6 weeks and oxidative parameters were…

Effect of exogenous testosterone on oxidative status of the testes in adult male rats

Administration of exogenous testosterone influences the lipid peroxidation and carbonyl stress and decreases the antioxidant defence in the testes and these data might have implications for male fertility in humans.

Effects of castration and testosterone replacement on the antioxidant defense system in rat left ventricle.

The results indicate that castration significantly and negatively affected the antioxidant status of rat LV, as evidenced by a significant decline in activities of all antioxidant enzymes, by a tendency toward lower levels of GSH and protein thiol groups, and by enhanced lipid peroxidation and higher nitrotyrosine concentrations in left ventricular tissue.

THE POSSIBLE PROTECTIVE ROLE OF ANTIOXIDANTS (SELENIUM, VITAMIN E) IN REDUCING SMOKING EFFECTS ON TESTES OF ALBINO RATS

The present study showed that although using of certain antioxidants cannot completely prevent the drastic effects of cigarette smoking on living tissue, it prevented to some extent the degenerative changes observed in testicular tissues.

A 65-Day Fumonisin B Exposure at High Dietary Levels Has Negligible Effects on the Testicular and Spermatological Parameters of Adult Rabbit Bucks

It was demonstrated that FBs in an unrealistic and unjustified high dose still do not exert any drastic harmful effect on the leporine, male reproduction system, meanwhile slightly augmenting testicular antioxidant response.

The effects of mating in rams on blood malondialdehyde and some antioxidants.

It was found that mating in rams had no influence on blood MDA level and the antioxidant parameters measured herein, however, MDA levels were slightly increased during mating.

Study of the testicular damage induced by dianabol and its effect on morphological and histological changes in albino male rats

The result shows the decrease of live sperm count & the increased dead sperm in rats treated with Dianabol, and variable degree of tubular destruction together with loss of spermatied and evidence of epididymal tubular distortion with hyperplasia.

EFFECTS OF PARSLEY AND PUMPKIN ON ALCOHOL INDUCED TESTICULAR DAMAGE IN RAT MODEL

Pumpkin and parsley rich diet may have a preventive role on histopathological changes caused by alcohol in rat testes and this effect may be beneficial on oxidative stress due to ethanol usage.

Testosterone‐induced changes in testicular antioxidant system

The results indicate that TP administration to intact adult rats resulted in a significant decline in protein content of various subcellular fractions suggesting induction of oxidative stress and the role of testosterone in regulating testicular spermatogenesis through oxidative stress is discussed.

Induction of lipid peroxidation during steroidogenesis in the rat testis.

It is suggested that physiological LH action in the rat testis causes lipid peroxidation and maintains high activities of peroxide-metabolizing enzymes in the interstitial tissue.

Interaction of vitamin E and ascorbic acid (review).

Adequate doses of ascorbic acid supplementation to vitamin E-deficient subjects or animals help to partially maintain vitamin E levels, probably through sparing the degradative metabolism of vitamin E, and thus increase the antioxidant effectiveness.

Vitamin C augments lymphocyte glutathione in subjects with ascorbate deficiency.

Vitamin C supplements increase glutathione in human lymphocytes and the association suggests that every 1-mol change in ascorbate is accompanied by a change of approximately 0.5 mol in glutATHione.

Protective Role of α-tocopherol-succinate (Provitamin-E) in Cyclophosphamide Induced Testicular Gametogenic and Steroidogenic Disorders: A Correlative Approach to Oxidative Stress

The results of the experiment suggest that cyclophosphamide treatment at its clinical dose is associated with antigonadal activities as well as induction of oxidative stress in gonad that can be ameliorated significantly by f -tocopherol succinate co-administration.

Vitamin E in biological systems.

There is sufficient evidence to suggest that adequate antioxidant defense by vitamin E and the other antioxidants can provide protection from the increasingly high levels of free radicals present in the environment due to current lifestyles and the rising concentration of environmental pollutants.
