The vegetables studied were differently fertilized xiaobaicai. Postharvest physiological changes of xiaobaicai were analyzed through the use of various parameters and the duration of the shelf life of the vegetable kept in the refrigerator (6+2C) was also determined. Storage of the vegetables in sealed plastic packages showed decreases in chlorophyll fluorescence parameters determined. The concentrations of total soluble proteins decreased but that of soluble sugars increased during storage; solute leakage increased during the same period. These parameters indicated that the different fertilizers used affected the shelf life of the vegetables, with Nu-Trene-A, an all rounded fertilizer, resulting in the production of xiaobaicai with longer shelf life (up to 25 days of low temperature storage).
