  • Transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta 1) overexpression plays a key role in the glomerular accumulation of extracellular matrix proteins in renal disease. Retinoids have previously been shown to significantly limit glomerular damage in rat experimental glomerulonephritis.
