Context. Relativistic jets are ubiquitous in astrophysics. High-mass microquasars (HMMQs) are useful laboratories for studying these jets because they are relatively close and evolve over observable timescales. The ambient medium into which the jet propagates, however, is far from homogeneous. Corresponding simulation studies to date consider various forms of a wind-shaped ambient medium, but typically neglect radiative cooling and relativistic effects. Aims. We investigate the dynamical and…

Thermal and Ionization Aspects of Flows from Hot Stars: Observations and Theory
We discuss the EUV and X-ray properties of B stars, focusing on CMa (B2 II) which is the only star with both emission lines and a photospheric continuum detected with EUVE. We explore the modest e
Foundations of Radiation Hydrodynamics
Exposes the great foundation-stones of research on radiating flows in astrophysics. Upon them are built the walls of methodology (some understandably incomplete). Concentration is on fundamentals but

Algorithms for minimization without derivatives
This monograph describes and analyzes some practical methods for finding approximate zeros and minima of functions.
