Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of plyometric and pull training added an Olympic weightlifting training program (twice a week for 8 wk) on performance and selected strength characteristics in junior male weightlifter. Material: The participants [n = 34; age: 16.03 ± 0.9 y; mass: 74.78 ± 14.86 kg; height: 170.53 ± 6.81 cm] were randomized into a pull (n = 11), a plyometric (n = 12), and a control (n= 11) groups. The groups trained 6 days a week during the 8-week…

Prediction of competition performance via commonly used strength-power tests in junior female weightlifters
BACKGROUND: Strength-power tests are commonly used to monitor performance improvement and to assess preparedness for competition in weightlifters. Previous studies were limited to male weightlifters,
Prediction of competition performance via selected strength-power tests in junior weightlifters.
TLDR
The regression model suggested that the best predictors of weightlifting performance were Wingate mean power, the countermovement jump with arm swing, and body fat percentage, which accounted for approximately 88% of the common variance associated with competition performance in male junior weightlifters.

Olympic weightlifting training improves vertical jump height in sportspeople: a systematic review with meta-analysis
TLDR
OW is an effective training method to improve VJ height and the similar effects observed for OW and plyometric training on VJ Height suggests that either of these methods would be beneficial when devising training programmes to improveVJ height.
Training Strategies to Improve Muscle Power: Is Olympic-style Weightlifting Relevant?
TLDR
MSPT was time-efficient and equally or more effective than FSPT training in improving vertical jumping and sprinting performance and OWL was generally ineffective and inferior to the two other interventions.
Olympic Weightlifting and Plyometric Training With Children Provides Similar or Greater Performance Improvements Than Traditional Resistance Training
TLDR
Evaluating the effectiveness of Olympic-style weightlifting, plyometrics, and traditional RT programs with children found that any of the 3 training modalities can be implemented under professional supervision with proper training progressions to enhance training adaptations in children.
Does plyometric training improve strength performance? A meta-analysis.
TLDR
A meta-analysis of 15 studies with a total of 31 effect sizes was carried out to analyse the role of various factors on the effects of PT on strength performance, finding the combination of different types of plyometrics with weight-training would be recommended, rather than utilizing only one form.
Maximum Strength, Rate of Force Development, Jump Height, and Peak Power Alterations in Weightlifters across Five Months of Training
The purpose of this monitoring study was to investigate how alterations in training affect changes in force-related characteristics and weightlifting performance. Subjects: Seven competitive

Vertical Jump Biomechanics after Plyometric, Weight Lifting, and Combined (Weight Lifting + Plyometric) Training
TLDR
Olympic weight lifting training might be more appropriate to achieve changes in VJ performance and power in the precompetition period of the training season than combined weight lifting + plyometric training.
Relationship Between Countermovement Jump Performance and Multijoint Isometric and Dynamic Tests of Strength
TLDR
It is suggested that increasing maximal strength relative to body mass can improve performance in explosive lower body movements.

SHORT‐TERM EFFECTS ON LOWER‐BODY FUNCTIONAL POWER DEVELOPMENT: WEIGHTLIFTING VS.VERTICAL JUMP TRAINING PROGRAMS
TLDR
Olympic WL exercises seemed to produce broader performance improvements than VJ exercises in physically active subjects as compared with either the VJ or WL program.
