Work on solitary waves in four-wave mixing is extended by considering the suitable forward wave mixing, phase variations, and attenuations in interactions. General solutions are obtained first, and then effects on solitary waves are discussed. Phase variations have no effect on the solitary waves except some phase shift. Attenuations destroy the dark solitary waves and can compress the bright solitary waves. It is shown that very short pulses can be obtained with the help of attenuations.
