The growth, photosynthesis, and respiration of the marine diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum were examined under photoautotrophic and mixotrophic conditions. 100 mM glycerol, acetate, and glucose significantly increased specific growth rate, and mixotrophic growth achieved higher biomass concentrations.
