The stimulation of bacterial alkaline phosphatase activity (APA) by inorganic and organic nitrogen compounds was investigated in the southern Baltic Sea monthly between February and August 2001, by adding albumin, casein, leucine, ammonium, nitrate, ammonium + glucose or nitrate + glucose to 0.8 µm filtered seawater.
