BACKGROUND Nuclear factor (NF)-κB plays an essential role in inflammation. We tested this role by administering NF-κB-inhibitors into rats undergoing a well-established model of colonic anastomotic healing. METHODS Wistar rats underwent laparotomy, descending colonic transection, and handsewn reanastomosis.
