The effect of the electrical simulation induced analgesia (ESIA) on the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) was investigated by the paw pressure test, which was used to avoid any tissue damage to the paw of Wistar-SPF/VAF male rats. A stimulating electrode was chronically implanted in the parvocellular (PVN-prv) or magnocellular (PVN-mgn) divisions of the PVN. The ESIA was examined at least 10 days after surgery.
