Estradiol (E2) stimulates the proliferation of human endometrial adenocarcinoma cells of the Ishikawa line, which had been previously shown to respond to estrogen by increasing their levels of progesterone receptor and the specific activities of DNA polymerase alpha and alkaline phosphatase.
