The effects of dissolved oxygen concentration (DO) on hybridoma cell physiology were examined in a continuous stirred tank bioreactor with a murine hybridoma cell line (167.4G5.3). Dissolved oxygen concentration was varied between 0% and 100% air saturation. Cell growth and viability, carbohydrate, amino acid, and energy metabolism, oxygen uptake, and antibody production rates were investigated. Cell growth was inhibited at both high and low DO.
