Blastocysts derived from bovine zygotes fertilized and matured in vitro and cultured for 7 days in conditioned medium were frozen in 1.36 mol glycerol l-1 and 0.25 mol sucrose l-1. In vitro survival after thawing was unaffected by dilution rate in 0.25 mol sucrose l-1. The proportion of blastocysts that re-expanded after 24 h was 81% (70 of 86) and 47% (33 of 70) hatched. Seven pregnancies beyond 2 months resulted from transfer of 21 blastocysts to 19 recipients. Total embryonic loss was 46.2…

Figures and Tables from this paper

Survival and viability of fresh and frozen-thawed in vitro bovine blastocysts.
TLDR
Investigation of the effect of some factors on survival and viability of bovine blastocysts produced in vitro in serum-free oviduct-conditioned media found in vitro survival to freezing was higher for blastocyst appearing on days 6 and 7 than for day 8 Blastocysts.
EFFECTS OF QUALITY AND DEVELOF ’ MENTAL STAGE ON THE SURVIVAL OF IVF-DERIVED BOVINE BLASTOCYSTS CULTURED IN VITRO AFTER FREEZING AND THAWING
TLDR
Factors affecting viability of IVF-derived bovine blastocysts after freezmg and thawing were investigated and embryo quality and developmental stage are imporhmt factors influencing their survival after fWzing andthawing.
Developmental competence of frozen-thawed blastocysts from fair-quality bovine embryos cultured with beta-mercaptoethanol.
TLDR
It is indicated that the inclusion of beta-ME in pre-freezing culture media improve the development of frozen-thawed blastocysts from fair-quality embryos, but not the pregnancy rate.

Effects of oxygen concentration on the metabolism of [U-14C]glucose by mouse morulae and early blastocysts in vitro.
TLDR
The present study could provide an explanation for the discrepancy in glycogen content between mouse blastocysts developing in utero and in vitro and for the reported beneficial effects of low oxygen concentration during development of embryos in culture.
