To investigate the effects of iopanoic acid (IA) and carbimazole on increased activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis in hyperthyroidism, we studied 14 women with hyperthyroidism caused by Graves' disease (n + 11) or toxic multinodular goitre (n + 3) before and after carbimazole or IA treatment.
