To examine the direct effects of cyproterone on the ovarian biosynthesis of steroids, tissue slices obtained from two cyclically functional human ovaries were incubated with [4-14C]pregnenolone as precursor. The steroid production was determined by measuring the concentration of eleven 14C-labelled steroids in the medium at the end of a 3-h incubation. Under control conditions, the in vitro-synthesis of 17 alpha-hydroxypregnenolone, dehydroepiandrosterone, androstenediol (5-ene-3 beta-hydroxy… Expand
Effect of androgen substrates on the steroidogenic pattern of cumulus cells: Correlation with cumulus culture morphology
TLDR
In type C/D cumulus the significant increase in estradiol-17β secretion in the presence of various androgens suggests that, under basal conditions, androgen is less available for estradio-17 β biosynthesis compared to type A cumulus. Expand
Effects of cyproterone acetate, LHRH agonist and ovarian surgery in McCune-Albright syndrome with precocious puberty and galactorrhea
TLDR
It is likely that in this case of McCune-Albright syndrome precocious puberty was a result of ovarian estrogen secretion, while pubertal activation of the hypothalamus-pituitary axis was absent. Expand
Thyroliberin and the daily rhythm of vasopressin and oxytocin release from the hypothalamo-neurohypophysial system
Abstract The daily rhythm of neurohypophysial hormones release was investigated in rats given intracerebroventricularly (i.c.v.) thyroliberin (200 ng/10 μ l—once daily over 4 days). In animalsExpand
SPONTANEOUS GONADOTROPHIN PULSATILITY AND OVARIAN MORPHOLOGY IN GIRLS WITH CENTRAL PRECOCIOUS PUBERTY TREATED WITH CYPROTERONE ACETATE
TLDR
It is suggested that the previously reported effects on gonadotrophin secretion induced by cyproterone acetate therapy, administered in recommended doses, are minor and that the predominant effect of cyproterspine acetate in the treatment of girls with central precocious puberty is direct inhibition of ovarian steroidogenesis.
