Pretreatment of guinea pigs with pargyline for seven days (75 mg/kg every 24 hours) did not affect the responses of isolated left atrial strips or of the atrial pacemaker to norepinephrine. Although pargyline did not alter responses of left atrial strips to field stimulation, responses of the pacemaker to accelerans nerve stimulation were decreased markedly.
