Celecoxib (Celebrex), an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2; prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2; EC 1.14.99.1), is widely used in the treatment of chronic inflammation and pain. COX-2 is constitutively expressed in the testis, where it is responsible for prostaglandin production, so inhibition of this enzyme should have effects on testicular function.
