The effects of CCl(4) on albumin synthesis were studied employing the isolated perfused liver. Carbonate-(14)C was used to measure newly synthesized albumin. 2.5 ml of CCl(4) was administered by stomach tube 2 hr before perfusion. Albumin synthesis decreased from 36 to 5 mg following the ingestion of CCl(4). Preperfusing the livers for 1 hr before measuring albumin synthesis resulted in an increase to 12 mg, and the addition of tryptophan to a final concentration of 10 mM resulted in a further…
Therapeutic effect of melatonin on carbon tetrachloride‐induced acute liver injury in rats
TLDR
Melatonin exerts a therapeutic effect on CCl4‐induced acute liver injury in rats, possibly through its antioxidant action, judging from the levels of serum transaminases, indices of liver cell damage.
Effects of ethanol on protein synthesis.
TLDR
The combination of fasting and alcohol, while not lowering albumin synthesis below that seen with either stress alone, prevents the recovery from either stress.
The protective effect of silymarin on the carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced liver injury in common carp (Cyprinus carpio)
TLDR
It can be concluded that silymarin has protective effect against CCl4-induced hepatotoxicity in fish, and it is suggested that sallymarin may be used as a hepatoprotective agent to prevent liver diseases in fish.
Important role of tryptophan on albumin synthesis in patients suffering from anorexia nervosa and hypoalbuminemia.
TLDR
The reduced supply of amino acids as the most important factor in the decrease inalbumin synthesis and the important role of tryptophan in the regulation of albumin synthesis are discussed.
Rate of Synthesis of Albumin in Relation to Serum Levels of Essential Amino Acids in Patients with Bacterial Overgrowth in the Small Bowel
TLDR
Compared to a control group the rate of albumin synthesis and the serum level of valine, leucine, lysine and tryptophan were significantly decreased in the patients with bacterial overgrowth.
Influence of chronic renal failure on protein synthesis and albumin metabolism in rat liver.
TLDR
In rats with chronic uremia (blood urea nitrogen greater than 45 mg/100 ml 1 mo after surgical reduction in renal mass), cell-free protein synthesis is reduced 30--40% in liver membrane-bound polyribosomes and activity of free polysomes remains norma.
Hypolipidemic and Hypoglycemic Effects of Hydroalcoholic Extract of Solanum nigrum Linn. in CCl4-induced Hepatotoxicity in Mice
TLDR
The results indicated S. nigrum exerts hepatoprotective property by stabilizing tissue macromolecules resulting in maintenance of cellular hemeostasis.

Alcohol-induced depression of albumin synthesis: reversal by tryptophan.
TLDR
Reaggregation occurred when tryptophan was added but quantitative changes in albumin synthesis could not be related to the degree of reaggregation, and alcohol decreased the quantity of heavier aggregates.
The effects of adrenocortical hormones on albumin metabolism studied with albumin-I 131.
Previous studies of serum albumin turnover, employing albumin-I'3' as a tracer, have revealed a narrow range of values averaging about 200 mg. per Kg. per day in normal male adults and in patients
The effects of polyuridylic acid on phenylalanine incorporation by subcellular fractions from carbon tetrachloride-poisoned rat liver.
TLDR
It is suggested that two effects are present in carbon tetrachloride poisoning, namely an alteration of the messenger-ribosome interaction and an increased lability of the ribosome, as either separate or related events.
Plasma Protein Synthesis in the Liver: Method for Measurement of Albumin Formation in vivo
TLDR
The ratio of the rates of entry of radioactivity into the protein and urea was determined and the rate of protein synthesis was determined, which applies to albumin and should apply to any plasma protein synthesized in those liver cells which also synthesize urea.
AN INTRACELLULAR DEFECT IN PROTEIN SYNTHESIS INDUCED BY CARBON TETRACHLORIDE
TLDR
It is concluded that the decreased amino acid incorporation rate reflects depressed synthesis of protein by the liver and other pathological changes in the liver, including necrosis, fatty change, and mitochondrial alterations may be dependent upon severe impairment of protein synthesis.
