Anandamide (arachidonylethanolamide) is a compound recently isolated from porcine brain as a putative endogenous ligand at cannabinoid receptors. The present studies examined the effects of anandamide on cannabinoid receptor binding sites and adenylyl cyclase in rat brain membranes.
