By means of radioimmunoassay measurements of regional neurotensin (NT) levels in the forebrain of the male rat it was shown that selective D2 DA receptor antagonists, such as haloperidol and sulpiride, and unselective D1 and D2 antagonists such as thioridazine, flupenthixol clozapine and fluperlapine, can acutely increase NT levels in the striatum and the nucleus accumbens without affecting NT levels in the amygdaloid or anteromedial frontal cortex.
