Mindfulness-based interventions are effective at improving symptoms of sexual dysfunction in women. The mechanisms by which mindfulness improves sexual function are less clear. The main objective of our study was to investigate the impact of a mindfulness task on sexual response in women. Forty-one women (mean age = 27.2, SD = 5.6) participated in two laboratory sessions that each included two erotic films and one attention task that were presented in counterbalanced order. Both attention tasks…
The Power of the Present: Effects of Three Mindfulness Tasks on Women’s Sexual Response
Mindfulness-based interventions are effective at improving sexual dysfunctions in women, yet the mechanisms of action are less clear. Our objective was to investigate the impact of three mindfulness
Mindfulness in Sexual Activity, Sexual Satisfaction and Erotic Fantasies in a Non-Clinical Sample
TLDR
In the MAAS, Body Awareness subscale (SBC), NSSS, SSA-W andSSA-M, HISF and intimate fantasies subscale, people in the Mindfulness condition showed higher scores and these differences were statistically significant and may have relevant implications in the sexuality of clinical and non-clinical samples.
Statistical Mediators of the Association Between Mindfulness and Sexual Experiences in Men with Impaired Sexual Function
TLDR
Bivariate correlations indicated that mindfulness was significantly associated with sexual satisfaction, sexual distress, and premature ejaculation, but not other aspects of sexual function, which generally supported previous theoretical work and have implications for future treatment outcome research.
The Effect of Mindfulness Psych-Educational Group Intervention on Improving Sexual Function of Women with Multiple Sclerosis
TLDR
Mindfulness-based psycho educational group therapy was effective in improving the sexual function of women with MS in all the six domains and the total FSFI score (p≤.05).
Erotic mindfulness: A core educational and therapeutic strategy in somatic sexology practices
Somatic sexology modalities such as sexual surrogacy, sexological bodywork, masturbation coaching, and orgasmic meditation have shown significant potential for helping individuals transcend sexual
The Empirical Status of the Preparation Hypothesis: Explicating Women’s Genital Responses to Sexual Stimuli in the Laboratory
TLDR
The preparation hypothesis is reviewed, suggesting that women’s indiscriminate genital responses serve a protective function and prepare the vaginal lumen for possible sexual activity and therefore prevent injuries that may occur as a result of penetration.

Mindfulness-Based Sex Therapy Improves Genital-Subjective Arousal Concordance in Women With Sexual Desire/Arousal Difficulties
TLDR
Genital-subjective sexual arousal concordance significantly increased from pre-treatment levels, with changes in subjective sexual arousal predicting contemporaneous genital sexual arousal (but not the reverse), which suggests that such treatment may lead to an integration of physical and subjective arousal processes.
A Pilot Study of Eight-Session Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Adapted for Women’s Sexual Interest/Arousal Disorder
TLDR
Pilot data suggest that eight-session MBCT-S is feasible and significantly improves sexual function, and provide the basis for a larger randomized-controlled trial (RCT) with a longer follow-up period.
Group mindfulness-based therapy significantly improves sexual desire in women.
Pilot Study of a Brief Cognitive Behavioral Versus Mindfulness-Based Intervention for Women With Sexual Distress and a History of Childhood Sexual Abuse
TLDR
Data from this pilot study support the further study of mindfulness-based approaches in the treatment of sexual difficulties characterized by a disconnection between genital and subjective sexual response.

How Does Paying Attention Improve Sexual Functioning in Women? A Review of Mechanisms.
Focusing "hot" or focusing "cool": attentional mechanisms in sexual arousal in men and women.
TLDR
Attenuation of sexual feelings by attentional focus was observed, with stronger sexual feelings under the hot focus condition than under the cool focus condition, and implications for the treatment of hypoactive sexual desire, sexual arousal disorder, and hypersexuality are discussed.
Mindfulness-based Group Therapy for Women with Provoked Vestibulodynia
TLDR
Findings support the use of a brief mindfulness-based program as a promising treatment for distressing genital pain in women with PVD.
Testing cognitive predictors of individual differences in the sexual psychophysiological responses of sexually functional women.
TLDR
Findings support the notion that cognitive factors that enhance sexual arousal contribute to the large variation seen in the coherence of sexual response as measured in the laboratory.
