Background and Design In this study we set out to determine the effects of long-term physical training on hemorheological, laboratory parameters, exercise tolerability, psychological factors in cardiac patients participating in an ambulatory rehabilitation program. Methods Before physical training, patients were examined by echocardiography, tested on treadmill by the Bruce protocol, and blood was drawn for laboratory tests. The enrolled 79 ischemic heart disease patients joined a 24-week…

Alterations of Selected Hemorheological and Metabolic Parameters Induced by Physical Activity in Untrained Men and Sportsmen

Overall, short, high-intensity exercise altered macro and microrheological parameters, mostly in the untrained group, and significant differences were found between the two sports.

Cardiac rehabilitation improves the blood plasma properties of cardiac patients

Improvements were detected in oxidative stress parameters, except in the level of carbonyls, and these changes may contribute to the increased functional heart capacity and better tolerance to exercise and functional capacity of the patients.

Effects of acute and chronic hematocrit modulations on blood viscosity in endurance athletes.

While acute increase in Hct during exercise caused an increase of blood viscosity, the chronic increase of Hct induced by training session did not result in a rise in blood visCosity, suggesting the lowering of plasma viscosities during training may compensate for the increase ofHct, hence limiting its impact on blood vis Coscosity.

Associations among hemorheological factors and maximal oxygen consumption. Is there a role for blood viscosity in explaining athletic performance?

It is indicated that hematocrit alone should not be the focus of training and ergogenic supplementation to increase aerobic performance, and AT, but not RT, is associated with a hemorheological profile that promotes both oxygen transport and delivery.

Comparison of hemorheological changes in patients after acute coronary events, intervention and ambulatory rehabilitation.

It is indicated that CRP has beneficial hemorheological effects and is able to reverse the deterioration of HPs after coronary events or intervention.

Twelve Weeks of Combined Resistance and Aerobic Exercise Improves Cardiometabolic Biomarkers and Enhances Red Blood Cell Hemorheological Function in Obese Older Men: A Randomized Controlled Trial

It is suggested that combined exercise training can be useful for improving cardiometabolic biomarkers and RBC hemorheological parameters in obese older men and may help prevent metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases.

A Comparison of Blood Viscosity and Hematocrit Levels between Yoga Practitioners and Sedentary Adults

A consistent yoga practice was associated with lower WBV, a health indicator related to CVD risk, and these findings support a regular yoga practice as a valid form of exercise for improving rheological indicators of cardiovascular health.

Cardiac Rehabilitation with Targeted Intensity Improves Cardiopulmonary Functions Accompanying with Reduced Copeptin Level in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

Cardiac rehabilitation training improves cardiopulmonary exercise parameters El and PVO 2 which are correlated with reduced CPP level and may have a novel role in maintaining plasma osmolality and cardiovascular homeostasis.

Higher Daily Physical Activity Level Is Associated with Lower RBC Aggregation in Carotid Artery Disease Patients at High Risk of Stroke

The results showed greater hemorheological abnormalities (blood hyper-viscosity and hyper-aggregation of red blood cells) in the most severe CAD patients, which could exacerbate the risk of stroke in patients with stenosis.

High-intensity interval training irrespective of its intensity improves markers of blood fluidity in hypertensive patients

HIIT training reduces systolic blood pressure (SBP), blood and plasma viscosity, fibrinogen concentration and red blood cell (RBC) aggregation (8–12%) and increases RBC deformability significantly (P < .05), with no significant differences being observed between two protocols.

Hemorheological responses to progressive resistance exercise training in healthy young males

The results of this study indicate that progressive resistance exercise training (PRET) may have positive effects on hemorheological parameters.

Improvements in blood rheology after cardiac rehabilitation and exercise training in patients with coronary heart disease.

Cardiac rehabilitation improves blood rheology in patients with CHD by reducing mu45 and PV and elevating tau(rbc) and these improvements may contribute to the increased functional capacity and reduced morbidity and mortality that is associated with participation in cardiac rehabilitation and exercise programs.

It is indicated that hematocrit alone should not be the focus of training and ergogenic supplementation to increase aerobic performance, and AT, but not RT, is associated with a hemorheological profile that promotes both oxygen transport and delivery.

Time course of hemorheological alterations after heavy anaerobic exercise in untrained human subjects.

The results of this study indicate that a single bout of heavy anaerobic exercise may induce significant hemorheological deterioration lasting for up to 12 h and thus suggest the need to consider such effects in individuals with impaired cardiovascular function.

Endurance running trial in tropical environment: a blood rheological study.

Running exercise in tropical climate with ad libitum hydration does not alter the main rheological properties of blood.

Exercise hemorheology: classical data, recent findings and unresolved issues.

The data published on the effects of exercise on the hemorheological profile of healthy individuals and patients with cardiovascular and metabolic disorders are not consistent, with some studies showing decreased, unchanged, or increased red blood cell deformability/aggregation when compared with rest.

The data supports the thesis of a link between blood rheology and atherogenesis and regular exercise might be a way of therapeutically increasing blood flow in ischaemic vascular diseases.

Effects of resistance training intensity on deformability and aggregation of red blood cells.

It is concluded that RET performed at an intensity corresponding to 70% of 1RM alters RBC deformability more than training performed at 85% of one-repetition maximum (1RM) and both training protocols affect RBC aggregation in a similar way.

Follow-up of hemorheological parameters and platelet aggregation in patients with acute coronary syndromes.

The results support the role of abnormal hemorheological parameters in the development of myocardial ischemia and draw attention to the rheologic risk of patients with classical cardiovascular risk factors and confirm the importance of guided secondary prevention.
