Objective. Ionized water aerosols have been suggested to exert beneficial health effects on pediatric allergic asthma. Their effect was evaluated in a randomized controlled clinical trial as part of a summer asthma camp. Methods. Asthmatic allergic children (n = 54) spent 3 weeks in an alpine asthma camp; half of the group was exposed to water aerosol of an alpine waterfall for 1 hour per day, whereas the other half spent the same time at a “control site”. Immunological analysis, lung function…
Does waterfall aerosol influence mucosal immunity and chronic stress? A randomized controlled clinical trial
TLDR
Exposure to waterfall revealed an additional benefit concerning psychological parameters such as subjective stress perception, the Global Severity Index (GSI), and the Positive Symptom Total (PST) when combined with a therapeutic sojourn at high altitude including regular physical activity.
Inhalations with Brine Solution from the ‘Wieliczka’ Salt Mine Diminish Airway Hyperreactivity and Inflammation in a Murine Model of Non-Atopic Asthma
TLDR
It is found that brine inhalations reduced, as compared to non-inhaled mice, the typical asthma-related symptoms, like airway hyperreactivity (AHR), the infiltration of pro-inflammatory cells into the bronchial tree, and the inflammation of the airways at the level of Pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1α, IL- 1β and IL-6.
Inhalations with thermal waters in respiratory diseases.

TLDR
Inhalations with thermal waters alleviate symptoms of respiratory diseases and improve the quality of life of the patients and seem to be a good add-on therapy in the treatment of disorders of the respiratory system.
The combination of alkaline water provision and asthma-induced gymnastics towards peak expiratory flow rate of asthma patients at Surakarta Lung Clinic, Indonesia
TLDR
The combination of alkaline water and asthma-induced gymnastics effectively and significantly improves the peak expiratory flow rate values at the Day 8 (p =0.039) and the Day 14  (p = 0.012).
Exposure to Air Ions in Indoor Environments: Experimental Study with Healthy Adults
TLDR
The results indicate slightly activating and cognitive performance enhancing effects of a short-term exposure to higher indoor air ion concentrations, and no influence of air ions on lung function and on wellbeing.
Partially ionized medical oxygen as a supplementary treatment for COVID-19
TLDR
The authors fully agree with the authors that in some conditions, in which there are limitations in conventional treatment, oxidation therapy could be useful; however, they would like to share their thoughts and contributions to this report.
Nature Exposure and Its Effects on Immune System Functioning: A Systematic Review
TLDR
The synthesis of reviewed studies points to positive effects of nature exposure on immunological health parameters; such as anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic,Anti-asthmatic effects or increased NK (natural killer) cell activity that may serve as a baseline for further studies.
The pH of water from various sources: an overview for recommendation for patients with atopic dermatitis
TLDR
Normal saline, distilled water, bottled sparkling water and facial makeup removing water had similar pH to that of normal skin of normal people, however, other factors including benefits of mineral substances in the water in terms of bacteriostatic and anti-inflammation should be considered in the selection of cleansing water.
Waterfall Forest Environment Regulates Chronic Stress via the NOX4/ROS/NF-κB Signaling Pathway
TLDR
The WF had a positive effect on immune enhancement and physical and psychological health in patients with chronic fatigue and might inhibit chronic stress by regulating the NOX4/ROS/NF-κB signaling pathway.
Effects of Partially Ionised Medical Oxygen, Especially with O2•−, in Vibration White Finger Patients
TLDR
Peripheral vasodilatation achieved by inhalation of O2•− could be used for VWF treatment without undesirable side effect in hospital as well as at home environment.

High altitude climate therapy reduces peripheral blood T lymphocyte activation, eosinophilia, and bronchial obstruction in children with house‐dust mite allergic asthma
TLDR
The results indicate similar pathogenetic mechanisms in childhood and adult asthma and suggest that allergen avoidance may contribute to the efficient therapy of asthma in patients with house‐dust mite IgE‐meditated allergy.
[Effects of high altitude on bronchial asthma].
TLDR
The data from 428 adolescent and adult patients indicate an improvement of asthma symptoms and lung function during sojourns at high altitude, suggesting that the high altitude climate has beneficial effects on asthma beyond the effects of allergen avoidance.
Bronchial asthma and airway hyperresponsiveness at high altitude.
TLDR
Bronchial hyperresponsiveness to both hyposmolar aerosol and methacholine at sea level and at high altitude is studied in 11 adult subjects affected by mild asthma to suppose that the reduction in bronchial response might be mainly related to the protective role carried out by the higher levels of cortisol and, as already known, catecholamines.

TLDR
It is concluded that the available evidence suggests a significant benefit of high altitude for asthmatic patients, particularly in steroid-dependent patients.
The influence of altitude in bronchial asthma.
TLDR
Bronchial asthma in children who live at high altitudes is characterized by low prevalence and low morbidity.
[Prevalence and severity of bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis in Salzburg school children].
TLDR
The results show that the 12-month prevalence of asthma symptoms is twice as high as the lifetime prevalence of a diagnosis of asthma, suggesting that the condition is frequently underdiagnosed.
Links between Pollen, Atopy and the Asthma Epidemic
TLDR
This review outlines the mechanism of pollen fragmentation and possible pathophysiology of pollen fragment-induced asthma and examines synergistic effects and enhanced immune response from interaction in the atmosphere, or from co-deposition in the airways, of pollen allergens, endogenous pro-inflammatory agents, and the particulate and gaseous fraction of combustion products.
[Allergic rhinitis and its impact on asthma (ARIA update 2008). The Austrian perspective].
TLDR
The present article is the result of consecutive efforts of the authors of the ARIA update 2008 to accomplish the nationwide comprehensive distribution of information by publication in important national journals, like the WMW.
The effect of atmospheric ions on the respiratory system of infants.
TLDR
The results of these experiments indicate that the atmospheric ions have the following effects: reduction of tachypnea in cases of spastic bronchitis and bronchopneumonia, Cancel the therapeutic effects of negative ions on patients with spastic Bronchitis, and terminate spastic attacks induced by positive ionization.
Allergen-related approaches to immunotherapy.
TLDR
Defined allergen-derived molecules or peptides offer ease of standardization and, coupled with appropriate targeting of immunoregulatory mechanisms, will result in more widespread clinical use of SIT.
