This study is to investigate the protein and mRNA expressions of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in U937 foam cells and effects of Ginkgo biloba extract (GbE) on the cytokines. U937 cells were cultured with different concentrations of GbE (0.1, 1, and 10 microg x L(-1)), and stimulated by 100 mg x L(-1) oxidized low density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) for 24 h. The expressions of interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) in… Expand
Ginkgo biloba extract suppresses endotoxin-mediated monocyte activation by inhibiting nitric oxide- and tristetraprolin-mediated toll-like receptor 4 expression.
TLDR
Findings indicate that GBE could decrease the sensitivity of monocytes to LPS, and utilizing TTP to control TLR4 expression may be a promising approach for controlling systemic inflammation. Expand
Inhibitions of vascular endothelial growth factor expression and foam cell formation by EGb 761, a special extract of Ginkgo biloba, in oxidatively modified low-density lipoprotein-induced human THP-1 monocytes cells.

TLDR
It is suggested that EGb 761 prevents in vitro atherogenesis, probably via downregulation of VEGF expression in monocytes and inhibition of monocyte/macrophage-derived foam cell formation, and support its potential clinical use in AS. Expand
Ginkgo biloba extract attenuates the disruption of pro-and anti-inflammatory T-cell balance in peripheral blood of arsenicosis patients
TLDR
Results indicated that exposure to arsenic is associated with immune-related problems, and a previously unknown mechanism showing that an imbalance of pro- and anti-inflammatory T cells is involved in the pathogenesis of arsenicosis is described. Expand
Screening the anti-gout traditional herbs from TCM using an in vitro method
Abstract The aim of this work was to evaluate the ability of 33 herbal extracts in inhibiting the acute inflammation and xanthine oxidase (XOD) activity. The anti-inflammation effects of the herbalExpand
Ginkgo biloba extract: a novel addition to antipsoriasis ammunition?
TLDR
Given the ability of G. biloba extract to inhibit P-selectin-leukocyte adhesion, TNF-a, NF-jB, IL-6, ACE, and NO, and also upregulation of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10, it could be deduced that G.biloba extract might be effective for psoriasis treatment. Expand
Ginkgo biloba extract promotes osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in a pathway involving Wnt/β-catenin signaling.
TLDR
GBE is proposed to be used to upregulate the osteogenic differentiation of human BM-MSCs for new bone formation in BM- MSC-based cell therapy, which could provide an attractive and promising treatment for bone disorders. Expand
Effect of Yin-Xing-Tong-Zhi Tablets on Improving Vascular Cognitive Impairment No Dementia
TLDR
YXTZTs may delay the development of cognitive impairment in VCIND patients by modulating expression of VCIND-associated proinflammatory factors. Expand
