Horticultural production in most parts of the tropics is extremely difficult due to high rate of infection by the soil-borne diseases. At the moment, utilization of hydroponics systems for the commercial production of crops is very limited. This study, therefore, attempted to investigate the potential of growing gypsophila using different hydroponics systems. The experiments were laid out in a split-plot design. Three hydroponics systems were used as the main plots, i.e. elevated tray, ground…

Effects of different media on the growth and yield of Swiss chard (Beta vulgarisvar. cicla) grown in hydroponics

Decline in the availability of suitable land and good fertile soil for vegetable production due to climate change, urbanisation and increasing population has resulted in studies to find alternative

Effects of Hydroponics Systems on Growth, Yield and Quality of Zucchini (Cucurbita pepo L.)

TLDR
The results showed that there were significant differences in the growth, yield and nutritional content of zucchini cultivars grown in the different hydroponics systems and it is recommended that Terminator zuc squash cultivar can be produced in the elevated tray hydroponic system.

Effects of Different Hydroponics Systems and Growing Media on Physiological Parameters of Spinach

Hydroponics is a science of growing plants using a solution of suitable nutrients instead of soil and considered one of the most innovative agricultural strategies to produce more from less, in order

Rice husk substrates and pruning time for gypsophila production

Growth Characteristics, Phytochemical Contents, and Antioxidant Capacity of Trachyandra ciliata (L.f) Kunth Grown in Hydroponics under Varying Degrees of Salinity

This study evaluated the effect of salinity and soilless media on the vegetative growth, phytochemicals, and antioxidant capacity of Trachyandra ciliata (wild cabbage) to develop its growth protocol

Evaluation of Plant Growth on Expanded Black Cotton Soil

In aggregate hydroponics, the suitability of a particular medium is often guided by its physical properties. However these may not provide adequate evaluation. By growing a crop, the growth

Studies of Vegetative Growth, Inflorescence Development and Eco-Dormancy Formation of Abscission Layers in Streptocarpus formosus (Gesneriaceae)

TLDR
Investigation of the effectiveness of applying root zone heating to S. formosus plants grown in deep water culture hydroponics during the eco-dormancy period revealed that while all heated solutions significantly prevented the formation of abscission layer formation, they had a less significant effect on inflorescence formation, with only 18 °C having the greatest positive effect on flower development.

The effect of hydroponics systems on the growth of lettuce

TLDR
The results showed that the NFT hydroponic system of lettuce plants was 6%-10% more efficient compared to the floating raft system and DFT system in increasing yields.

Hydroponic techniques: A soilless cultivation in agriculture

In order to expand the scope for development in agriculture in India there is a need for Hi-tech production systems. To overcome constraints like water availability, small land holdings, disease and

Influence of Soilless Culture Substrate on Improvement of Yield and Produce Quality of Horticultural Crops

Soilless culture is the modern cultivation system of plants that use either inert organic or inorganic substrate through nutrient solution nourishment. Possibly it is the most intensive culture
