In this work we study how CPT -odd Maxwell-Carroll-Field-Jackiw (MCFJ) electrodynamics as well as a dimension-5 extension of it affect the optical activity of continuous media. The starting point is dimension-3 MCFJ electrodynamics in matter whose modified Maxwell equations, permittivity tensor, and dispersion relations are recapitulated. Corresponding refractive indices are achieved in terms of the frequency and the vector-valued background field. For a purely timelike background, the… Expand

Consistency analysis of a CPT-even and CPT-odd Lorentz-violating effective field theory in the electrodynamics at Planck scale by an influence of a background isotropic field
Based on the motivation that some quantum gravity theories predicts the Lorentz Invariance Violation (LIV) around Planck-scale energy levels, this paper proposes a new formalism that addresses theExpand
Electrodynamics with Lorentz-violating operators of arbitrary dimension
The behavior of photons in the presence of Lorentz and CPT violation is studied. Allowing for operators of arbitrary mass dimension, we classify all gauge-invariant Lorentz- and CPT-violating termsExpand
Maxwell electrodynamics modified by a CPT -odd dimension-five higher-derivative term
In this paper, we consider an electrodynamics of higher derivatives coupled to a Lorentz-violating background tensor. Specifically, we are interested in a dimension-five term of the CPT-odd sector ofExpand
Maxwell electrodynamics modified by CPT -even and Lorentz-violating dimension-6 higher-derivative terms
In this paper, we investigate an electrodynamics in which the physical modes are coupled to a Lorentz-violating (LV) background by means of a higher-derivative term. We analyze the modes associatedExpand
Photon sector analysis of Super and Lorentz symmetry breaking: effective photon mass, bi-refringence and dissipation
Within the standard model extension (SME), we expand our previous findings on four classes of violations of Super-Symmetry (SuSy) and Lorentz Symmetry (LoSy), differing in the handedness of theExpand
Theory of electromagnetic wave propagation in ferromagnetic Rashba conductor
We present a comprehensive study of various electromagnetic wave propagation phenomena in a ferromagnetic bulk Rashba conductor from the perspective of quantum mechanical transport. In this system,Expand
Dynamical Lorentz symmetry breaking from a(3+1)-dimensional axion-Wess-Zumino model
We study renormalizable Abelian vector-field models in the presence of the Wess-Zumino interaction with pseudoscalar matter. Renormalizability is achieved by supplementing the standard kinetic termExpand
The relativistic electron gas: a candidate for nature's left-handed material
The electric permittivities and magnetic permeabilities for a relativistic electron gas are calculated from quantum electrodynamics at finite temperature and density as functions of temperature,Expand
Epsilon-near-zero response and tunable perfect absorption in Weyl semimetals
We theoretically study the electromagnetic response of type-I and type-II centrosymmetric Weyl metals. We derive an anisotropic permittivity tensor with off-diagonal elements to describe suchExpand
Nonorthogonality and κ-Dependence Eccentricity of Polarized Electromagnetic Waves in CPT-Even Lorentz Violation
We discuss the modified Maxwell action of a -type Lorentz symmetry breaking theory and present a solution of Maxwell equations derived in the cases of linear and elliptically polarizedExpand
