In recent years, pesticide application has increased worldwide due to the need for increased food production. In this way, understanding of the effects that these xenobiotic molecules can result in the soil microbiota becomes fundamental. Thus, this work aimed to evaluate microbial enzymatic activity by FDA, as well as quantify bacteria and fungi contaminated soil by ametryn herbicide. In addition, biofertilizer was added as a form of microbial biostimulation in order to cause enrichment of the…

CO2 Production of Soil Microbiota in the Presence of Ametryne and Biofertilizer
Ametryne is an herbicide applied to sugar cane cultures to prevent the emergence of weeds. It is a persistent compound that percolates ground and surface water thus impacting aquatic communities. In
Enhancing crop growth, nutrients availability, economics and beneficial rhizosphere microflora through organic and biofertilizers
Investigation of integrated use of chemical, organic and biofertilizers for improving maize growth, beneficial microflora in the rhizosphere and the economic returns concluded that integration of half dose of NP fertilizer with Biopower+BPF / EM can give similar crop yield as with full rate ofNP fertilizer.
Fluorescein Diacetate Hydrolysis as a Measure of Total Microbial Activity in Soil and Litter
Spectrophotometric determination of the hydrolysis of fluorescein diacetate (FDA) was shown to be a simple, sensitive, and rapid method for determining microbial activity in soil and litter. FDA
Sustenance of microbial activity in potting mixes and its impact on severity of pythium root rot of poinsettia
Potting mixes prepared with Canadian sphagnum peats varied in suppressiveness to Pythium root rot of poinsettia caused by Pythium ultimum, and microbial activity was highest in the suppressive and lowest in the conducive potting mixes.
