Effects of air diffuser arrangement as well as tank geometry on the spiral liquid circulation rate, i.e., the liquid ascending velocity in the bubbling zone, and on the gas-liquid oxygen transfer performance were investigated based on a theoretical analysis of the data obtained in commercial-scale activated sludge aeration tanks.
