The thiazolidinedione derivatives, troglitazone, rosiglitazone, and pioglitazone, are novel insulin-sensitizing drugs that are useful in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. However, hepatotoxicity associated with troglitazone led to its withdrawal from the market in March 2000.
