We investigate the dynamics of the excitation of multiphoton resonances in molecules of the spherical top type, whose spectrum has a fine structure due to the lifting of the K degeneracy of the vibrationalrotational states. It is shown that the excitation of these molecules resembles an irreversible process. The effect of the width of a laser radiation spectrum on the efficiency of the process is discussed.
