Abstract

The abil i ty of neu rob la s toma cel ls to undergo par t i a l d i f ferent ia t ion in cul ture makes them a convenient objeet with which to study molecu la r m e c h a n i s m s of genera t ion of exei tat ion [ 5]. As the r e su l t of spontaneous or induced different iat ion, neurob las t s can fo rm e l ec t r i ca l l y exei table outgrowths or neur i t es , which p o s s e s s some of the p r o p e r t i e s of axons of ma tu r e neurons [71.
