The effect of tellurium (Te) position on myocardial specificity and retention of fatty acids in which radioiodide is stabilized as a trans-(E)-vinyl iodide has been evaluated in rats. Five analogues of 18-iodo-17-octadecenoic acid (ICH = CH-R-Te-R'-COOH) with Te at positions 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13 were prepared by coupling of a trans-diiodoalkene (ICH = CH-R-I) with the requisite sodium [(alkoxycarbonyl)alkyl]telluride substrate (NaTe-R'-COOR"; R" = Me or Et), followed by basic hydrolysis. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first report of halogen- and isotope-exchange reactions of B-halocarboranes that have been conjugated to a complex biomolecule.
MyocardialUtilization of Long Chain Fatty Acids
The results indicate metabolic trapping of FTHA in myocardium subsequent to its entry into the mitochondrion and encourage its further evaluation as a PET tracer of myocardialLCFA utilization.
Incorporation of stable and radioactive isotopes via organoborane chemistry
An iodination reaction for incorporating I-123 or I-125 into compounds was found to proceed via an electrophilic attack by the iodine molecule on the electron-rich borax complex, did not require the presence of strong base, and was complete in 60 sec.
It is demonstrated that heart uptake is a function of the tellurium position and the identification of structural features which will increase the myocardial residence time without decreasing the heart uptake of long-chain fatty acids is of interest.
BMIPP-design and development
The development of BMIPP is discussed and the results of recent studies focusing on evaluating the effects of the absolute configuration of the branched methyl group using the 3(R)- BMIPP and 3(S)-BMIPP are described.
Cobalt-mediated [2+2+2] cycloaddition versus C-H and N-H activation of pyridones and pyrazinones with alkynes: an experimental study.
The reactivity of a range of pyridone and pyrazinone derivatives towards alkynes in the presence of cyclopentadienylcobaltbis(ethene) has been investigated and the [2+2-2] cycloaddition of an N-butynylisoquinolone was applied successfully to the total synthesis of anhydrolycorinone.
