The present research was conducted on twenty-four male mature Wistar rats to study effect of sesame oil on liver enzymes, lipid profile and the protective role against the oxidative stress caused by feeding monosodium glutamate which may be affect the liver. The rates were allocated in four equal groups. The 1one used as negative control without any treatment. The 2 group used as positive control feed on monosodium glutamate at dose rate 1.6 mg/gm bodyweight. The 3 group received monosodium…

POTENCY OF SOMALI RED SESAME SEED OIL AS A PROPHYLACTIC AGENT AGAINST HYPERLIPIDEMIA IN MALE ALBINO RATS FED ON FATTY DIET

It could be seen from the preceding results that, the utilization of the red sesame seed oil is safe for human health and it can be assumed that the oil under study proved to be a prophylactic agent against hyperlipidemia.

ANALYSIS OF OXIDATIVE STRESS MARKERS IN CHRONIC CONSUMPTION OF MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE ON LIVER OF WISTAR ALBINO RATS

The effects of MSG on oxidative stress marker enzymes on liver homogenate in the current study exhibited erratic abnormal changes in oxidative stress markers of monosodium induced groups which contemplate the harmful effects ofMSG consumed chronically.

BIOCHEMICAL EVALUATION OF CHRONIC CONSUMPTION OF MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE ON LIVER OF WISTAR ALBINO RATS

The effects of MSG on serum liver enzymes and lipid profiles in this present animal study were not severely alarming even though the dosage was chronic which opens further discussion on the controversies revolving around MSG.

Physiological and Histological Study to the Effects of Monosodium Glutamate in Laboratory male Rats and the protective role of vitamin E

The results demonstrate that MSG toxic effects on the liver and kidney tissue has been adversely affected by exposure to Monosodium glutamate and the study recommends to avoid using MSG as food additives and food for animals because of the toxic effects of this salt.

Adverse Effects of Two Kinds of Food Additive Mixtures (Sodium benzoate + Monosodium glutamate, Monosodium glutamate + Chlorophyllin and Sodium benzoate + Chlorophyllin) on Some Physiological Parameters in Male Albino Rats

The use of these compounds must be limited as it resulted in a vehement disturbance in the biochemical parameters.

THE AMELIORATIVE EFFECTS OF THE AQUEOUS EXTRACT OF ROSEMARY AGAINST MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE NEUROTOXICITY IN ADULT MALE ALBINO RATS: HISTOLOGICAL, ULTRASTRUCTURAL AND BIOCHEMICAL STUDIES

It is concluded that the aqueous rosemary extract ameliorated MSG neurotoxicity in adult male albino rats which may be attributed to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Natural products as safeguards against monosodium glutamate-induced toxicity

Calendula officinalis, Curcuma longa, Green Tea, Ginkgo biloba and vitamins are some of the main natural products with protective effect against monosodium glutamate toxicity through different mechanisms.

Adverse Effects of Monosodium Glutamate on Liver and Kidney Functions in Adult Rats and Potential Protective Effect of Vitamins C and E

Monosodium glutamate (MSG) was administrated to rats at doses of 0.6 and 1.6 mg/g body weight for 14 days. Body weight and relative liver and kidney weight of rats were significantly increased. On

Protective effect of Piper longum Linn. on monosodium glutamate induced oxidative stress in rats.

It was revealed that administration of P. longum provided significant protection to liver and kidney from the oxidative stress of MSG, though the dose rate was not sufficient to provide a complete protection.

Effect of vitamin E on monosodium glutamate induced hepatotoxicity and oxidative stress in rats.

The results showed that MSG at a dose of 0.6 mg/g body weight for 10 days induced the oxidative stress and hepatotoxicity in rats and vitamin E ameliorated MSG-induced oxidative Stress and Hepatotoxicity.

Toxicity of hypercaloric diet and monosodium glutamate: oxidative stress and metabolic shifting in hepatic tissue.

Evaluation of the Changes in Some Liver Function and Haematological Parameters in MSG Fed Rats

There was no significant difference (p>0.05) in PCV, WBC, RBC, total protein, albumin, direct and co njugated bilirubin in the rats fed with MSG at all levels of supplementation when compared with the control group.

Antioxidant potential of the Syzygium aromaticum (Gaertn.) Linn. (Cloves) in rats fed with high fat diet

The results substantiate the use of moderate quantity of cloves in diet as an antioxidant in offering protection against hyperlipidemia and show enhanced activities on co-administration of cloves.

Beneficial effect of sesame oil on heavy metal toxicity.

Sesame oil and sesamol are potently beneficial for treating lead- and iron-induced hepatic and renal toxicity and have no adverse effects.

The safety evaluation of monosodium glutamate.

A subsequent review by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology and the Federal Drug Administration did not discount the existence of a sensitive subpopulation but otherwise concurred with the safety evaluation of JECFA and the SCF.

Alterations in the lipid profile and liver enzymes of rats treated with monosodium glutamate

This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of monosodium glutamate on the liver and lipid profile of eighteen adult male Wistar rats as measured by biochemical parameters. The rats received
