Abstract The tegumental surface of Artyfechinostomum sufrartyfex as viewed under the scanning electron microscope revealed the presence of double rows of spines in the collar. The dorsal surface (6–8 rows) and the ventral surface are provided with posteriorly directed spines. The normal body surface of Fasciolopsis buski shows posteriorly directed scales throughout the ventral surface; the dorsal surface is free of any scales but has domed, coarsely distributed papillae. When treated in vitro…

In vitro anthelmintic activity of root-tuber extract of Flemingia vestita, an indigenous plant in Shillong, India

TLDR
In vitro treatment of root-tuber-peel extract of Flemingia vestita against helminth parasites showed structural alteration in their tegumental architecture and the vermifugal activity of this plant extract was suggested.

Anthelmintic efficacy of medicinal palnts from Northeast India against hookworms: an In vitro study on Ancylostoma Ceylanicum

TLDR
The phytochemicals of the test plants thus suggestedly may have a vermifugal role with regard to nematode parasites, though less effective than in soft-bodied flukes and tapeworm parasites.

Anthelmintic Efficacy of Medicinal Plants from Northeast India against Hookworms : an In Vitro Study on Ancylostoma Ceylanicum

TLDR
The phytochemicals of the test plants thus suggestedly may have a vermifugal role with regard to nematode parasites, though less effective than in soft-bodied flukes and tapeworm parasites.

Anthelmintic efficacy of flemingia vestita (fabaceae): Genistein-induced alterations in the esterase activity in the cestode, raillietina echinobothrida

TLDR
A pronounced decline in the visible stain intensity in the cholinergic components of the nervous system and in the tegument was noticeable, indicating extremely reduced activity of NSE and ChE in these sites.

Antiparasitic activity of methanolic extract of Acacia oxyphylla (Leguminosae) against Raillietina echinobothrida

  • S. DasguptaB. Roy
  • Biology
Journal of parasitic diseases : official organ of the Indian Society for Parasitology
  • 2010
TLDR
The crude methanolic extract of the plant was tested in vitro on the cestode parasite Raillietina echinobothrida to evaluate its potential anthelmintic efficacy and found a prominent decrease in the phosphatase activity, in comparison to the untreated control parasites.

Potentilla fulgens (Family Rosaceae), a medicinal plant of north-east India: a natural anthelmintic?

TLDR
The result suggests that phytochemicals of P. fulgens have anthelmintic potential and the reference drug, PZQ showed more or less similar effect like that of the plant extract.

Anthelmintic efficacy of ethanolic shoot extract of Alpinia nigra on tegumental enzymes of Fasciolopsis buski, a giant intestinal parasite

  • B. RoyA. Swargiary
  • Biology
Journal of parasitic diseases : official organ of the Indian Society for Parasitology
  • 2009
TLDR
The results suggest that the tegumental enzymes of the parasite may be an important target of action for active component(s) of A. nigra, which appears to act transtegumentally.

In vitro anthelmintic efficacy of Carex baccans (Cyperaceae): ultrastructural, histochemical and biochemical alterations in the cestode, Raillietina echinobothrida

TLDR
Phytochemicals from the root of C. baccans seem to be effective against soft-bodied cestode parasites and need to be characterized and identified.

Ultrastructural investigations on the effects of praziquantel on human trematodes from Asia: Clonorchis sinensis, Metagonimus yokogawai, Opisthorchis viverrini, Paragonimus westermani and Schistosoma japonicum.

TLDR
It is assumed that the very dense texture of the thick tegument is responsible for the relative refractoriness to praziquantel in vitro, however, in vivo the parasite is successfully eliminated by prazquantel.

Molluscicidal and antischistosomal activities of Zingiber officinale.

TLDR
Gingerol (5.0 ppm) completely abolished the infectivity of Schistosoma mansoni miracidia and cercariae in B. glabrata and mice, indicating that the molluscicide is capable of interrupting schistosome transmission at a concentration lower than itsmolluscicidal concentrations.
