The metamorphosis of oncospheres of the rat tapeworm, Hymenolepis diminuta, to mature metacestodes induces several pathophysiological effects in the intermediate host, Tenebrio molitor (Coleoptera). Previous investigations have failed to elucidate the mechanism responsible for changes in the host reproductive physiology and behaviour.
