Effects of free amino acids on the photosynthetic carbon metabolism of symbiotic dinoflagellates
TLDR
A biochemical model, based on the quantitative and qualitative assessment of carbon pathways in dinoflagellates incubated both in host factor and sea water alone, is presented and host factors appeared to provide an optimum environment to sustain maximum metabolic efficiency.
Clotrimazole, a model compound for the host release factor of the coral Plesiastrea versipora
TLDR
The commercially available synthetic fungicide, clotrimazole (mycosporin), a chemical analogue of naturally occurring mycosporine-like amino acids, can be used as a model for the host release factor of the coral Plesiastrea versipora, finding effects similar to the ‘host factor’ of a coral.
