Abstract : Comparison of changes in concentration of protein-bound carbohydrates (PBC) as neutral hexoses in the plasma of C3H mice and beagles as a function of time after exposure to mixed gamma-neutron radiations revealed that the two species react similarly. The animals which died exhibited a marked increase in plasma PBC concentration while the survivors deviated only slightly from their preirradiation values. Analytical acrylamide gel electrophoresis demonstrated that distinctive… Expand

Prognostic significance of concentrations of four classes of protein-bound carbohydrates in the serum of dogs.
TLDR
Numerical ranges of protein concentrations of neutral hexoses are proposed to indicate good, guarded, and poor prognoses for this species and were found to be effective for prediction. Expand
Effect of γ-irradiation on the plasma content and glycosylation of transferrin in mice
The content and glycosylation of transferrin are studied in mice 30 days after whole-body γ-irradiation in doses of 775, 825, and 900 rad using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis with amido black andExpand
RADIATION EFFECTS IN MAN: MANIFESTATIONS AND THERAPEUTIC EFFORTS. Annual Report, May 1, 1970--April 30, 1971.
TLDR
In patients with carcinoma of the colon metastic to liver, survival after one to two treatments was about equivalent to that achieved with 5-fluorouracil therapy, and in patients with bronchogenic cancer with metastases there was significant improvement in survival cancer, but survival was not quite as good as in a group treated with 5 FU. Metabolic Changes Induced by Ionizing Radiations
Metabolic changes induced by ionizing radiations fall into two categories: those that follow the primary radiation events and lead to subcellular damage and cell lethality and those that areExpand

TLDR
Marked differences were seen in the $\beta _{2}\text{-globulin}$ response of the animals to the two sources during the first week postirradiation as tested by immunoelectrophoresis in agar gel. Expand
THE ACUTE MORTALITY RESPONSE OF BEAGLES TO PULSED, MIXED GAMMA-NEUTRON RADIATIONS,
Abstract : Eighty-one beagle dogs were exposed unilaterally to mixed gamma-neutron radiations from the AFRRI-TRIGA reactor. Nine groups received midline tissue doses ranging from 155 to 236 rads.Expand
A procedure for rapid and sensitive staining of protein fractionated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
TLDR
Protein zones may be stained by Coomassie blue without any destaining of the background and with a sensitivity at least as high as that of amido black and at the price of background destaining. Expand
