Increasing evidence suggests that interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) regulates luteinizing hormone (LH) release primarily through modulation of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) neuronal activity. This study was undertaken to elucidate the effect of IL-1beta on GnRH as well as GnRH receptor (GnRHR) gene expression in the preoptic area.
