Tubular calcium and magnesium transport was investigated in thyroparathyroidectomized rats following acute elevation of extracellular calcium concentration. Fractional urinary excretion of calcium increased from 0.2 to 8.3% and magnesium increased from 15 to 39%, while sodium increased modestly from 0.1 to 1.1%.
