PURPOSE To evaluate prospectively the efficacy of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) in the reduction of chemotherapy-induced oral mucositis. PATIENTS AND METHODS Twenty patients with stage IV squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck were studied.
