BACKGROUND/AIMS A retrospective analysis of 628 cases of early gastric cancer was performed to evaluate prognostic significance of extensive lymph node dissection. METHODOLOGY The patients were assigned to either D0/D1 (n=177) group or D2/D3 group (n=451) according to the extent of lymph node dissection and the survival of the two groups was compared.
