Effect of amino acid deprivation on DNA synthesis in BHK-21/C13 cells.

Abstract

Removal of serum from BHK-21/C13 cells in culture results in a decline in thymidine incorporation extending over five days. Additional removal of any of several amino acids results in a rapid decrease in incorporation of thymidine to negligible levels by 24 hours.
