author={Hoda Salama Ibrahim and Naeem M. Rabeh and ALshymaa A. Sharaf ELden},
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of selenium and zinc supplementation on thyroid hormones (THs) in rats suffering from hypothyroidism (HT). Forty eight adult male albino rats (200 ± 7 g) were divided in two main groups. The first main group (n=6) was a -ve control, the second main group (n=42) was injected with PTU to induce HT. Then, these rats were divided into seven subgroups, subgroup one was fed on basal diet as a positive control; subgroups 2 -3 were fed on basal…

Protective Effect of Zinc Sulfate on Hypo-and Hyperthyroidism Induced in Adult Male Rabbits

Investigation of the effect of co-administration of zinc sulfate with Carbimazole and Levothyroxine on thyroid gland function in adult male rabbits revealed a significant elevation in serum TSH level and a significant reduction in serum levels of T 4, T 3 and, FT 3 levels in CBZ treated rabbits group compared with the control group.

Ameliorative Effect of Ginger Extract and Selenium in theThyroid Gland Toxicity Induced by Chlorpyrifos in Male Albino Rats

Ginger extract and selenium eliminated the damage effect of CPF on the thyroid gland function and histological structure and had adverse effects on the Thyroid gland structure and function that could be eliminated by administration of ginger and Selenium.

Efficacy of Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera L.) Fortification on Liver Functions Rats with Induced Hypothyroidism

It can be suggested that fortification with coconut oil could be used as a suitable therapy for hypothyroidism patients.

Histoloical and Biochemichal Study on the Toxic Effects of Bisphenol A on the Thyroid Gland of Adult Male Albino Rats and the Possible Protection by Selenium

Concomitant administration of selenium preserved to a great extent the thyroid gland architecture in rats treated with BPA, which had deleterious effects on thyroid structure and function.

Effect of Spirulina platensis against Thyroid Disorders Associated with Liver Dysfunction and Dyslipidaemia in Irradiated Rats

Thyroid dysfunction was accompanied by alteration in liver function enzymes and a state of hyperlipidaemia, SP treatment has significantly decreased oxidative stress and caspase-3 activity in thyroid tissues, which wasaccompanied by a significant improvement in the level of thyroid hormones, liver functions and lipid profile.

Prophylactic effect of Spirulina platensis on radiation-induced thyroid disorders and alteration of reproductive hormones in female albino rats

Spirulina treatment has significantly attenuated oxidative stress in thyroid tissues, decreased caspase-3 activity and ameliorated DNA damage, concomitant with significant amelIORation in the levels of thyroid and reproductive hormones.

Micronutrient Influence in Thyroid Function: A Review

The influence of micronutrients on thyroid function reveals the need for more research to increase scientific knowledge so that preventive and therapeutic measures can be taken regarding thyroid dysfunctions, to maintain a healthy thyroid.

Effect of ZnO NPs on Body and Organ Weights in Male Rats

High significant increase in thyroid gland, body and kidney weights in all different doses (30,60)mg/kg at durations 7,14 and 28 days, while the weight of liver and testes showed high significant decreament (p<0.01).

Impact of Safflower Petals and Moringa Leaves Extracts in Experimental Hyper and Hypothyroidism in Rats

Crude ethanol extract of safflower petals was promising as prophylactic agents in hyper and hypothyroidism as observed by improving plasma levels of TSH, lipid profile and histopathological changes.

Evaluation of the Toxicological Effects of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles in Albino Male Mice

The ability of using organ indexes as good tools side by side with the biochemical indicators to explain the histopathological changes of ZnO NPs was proved, as well as some Histopathological effects that were not previously recorded as a toxicological effect in animal animals.

Effect of Iron, Zinc, Vitamin E and Vitamin C Supplementation on Thyroid Hormones in Rats with Hypothyroidism

It could be suggested that Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc and Iron could be used as a suitable supplementation therapy for hypothyroidism patients.

Effect of selenium on hypothyroidism induced by methimazole (MMI) in lactating rats and their pups.

It is concluded that the supplementation of Se in diet had beneficial effects on hypothyroidism during a critical period of life.

Effect of Lead Acetate on the Thyroid Gland of Adult Male Albino Rats and the Possible Protective Role of Zinc Supplementation: A Biochemical, Histological and Morphometric Study

Zinc coadminstration resulted in improvement of the biochemical, histological and histomorphometric changes resulting from lead treatment, and exerted harmful effects on the histological structure and the function of the thyroid gland.

Single and multiple selenium-zinc-iodine deficiencies affect rat thyroid metabolism and ultrastructure.

Severe alterations of the follicle cellular architecture, including signs compatible with apoptosis, were observed in the Zn- and Se-Zn- groups, and alterations appeared to be less severe when iodine deficiency was simultaneously present.

Effect of zinc supplementation on thyroid hormone function. A case study of two college females.

Zinc supplementation appeared to have a favorable effect on thyroid hormone levels, particularly total T(3), and RMR in zinc-deficient, physically active women.

Actions and interactions of thyroid hormone and zinc status in growing rats.

Investigating the effects of hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism in growing rats confirmed the role of both T3 and zinc in the regulation of growth and the somatotrophic axis, and the growth failure of zinc deficiency does not appear to be due to impaired T3 function.

Selenium substitution has no direct effect on thyroid hormone metabolism in critically ill patients.

Selenium substitution in patients with NTI improves morbidity, but has no direct effect on the free and total thyroid hormones.

Effects of selenomethionine supplementation on selenium status and thyroid hormone concentrations in healthy adults.

Selenium supplementation produced no clinically significant changes in thyroid hormone concentrations, and a small but statistically significant increase in T3 concentrations was noted in men, with no corresponding decreases in TSH.
