AN increase in the number of mast cells has been reported in the thymus, spleen and bone marrow of mice exposed to long-continued gamma irradiation1. Hypoplasia of the bone marrow has been reported in animals and man following the administration of radioactive colloidal gold (gold-198)2, but no reference is made to any change in the mast cells.
