Abstract We studied the intergenerational effects of nitrogen (N) fertilizer applications to rice plants on the size, fecundity, and intrinsic rate of increase (rm) of Hysteroneura setariae (Thomas). Treatments consisted of rearing aphids on rice plants receiving 0, 50, 100, and 150% of the standard N fertilizer rates. Adult females produced on the 0 and 150% treatments were transferred to new plants at 0 or 150% N levels to create a matrix of four treatments: 0–0, 0–150, 150–0, and 150–150…
Effect of nitrogen fertilization on life table parameters and population growth of Brevicoryne brassicae.
TLDR
The greenhouse study on aphid population growth on various treatments indicated that 21 day after infestation, highest number of aphid and lowest number of winged were found on treated cabbage with 150% of recommended nitrogen fertilization, which means that higher nitrogen fertilizer improves the suitability of oilseed rape for cabbage aphid whose performances are then increased.
Effect of nitrogen fertilisation on biology, life table parameters and population abundance of greenbug; Schizaphis graminum (Rondani) (Hemiptera: Aphididae)
TLDR
Number of wingless aphids on treated wheat plants significantly increased with increase in fertilisation level while the number of winged aphids produced decreased, and statistical analysis demonstrated aphid’s feeding on plants treated with higher fertilisation significantly had higher R0, DT, T, and r m.
Effects of Nitrogen Fertilizer and Magnesium Manipulation on the Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)
TLDR
Results showed that foliar treatment using different Mg concentrations under hydroponic culture conditions significantly decreased the developmental duration (days) (DD) of the larvae and pupae but did not influence the pupation rate or adult emergence rate.
The simultaneous application effects of nitrogen, phosphorus and silicon on life table parameters of Aphis gossypii (Hemiptera: Aphididae) on cucumber
TLDR
The results showed that in simultaneous application, the phosphorus had a more impact on life history and performance of cotton aphid.
Intrinsic rate of increase (rm) of Aphis gossypii glover infesting brinjal plants
TLDR
The intrinsic rate of natural increase of A. gossypii is determined which is the basic knowledge of IPM program and is essential to know the actual populations increase which important to pest control.
Effects of nitrogen and phosphine mixtures on stored- product insects' mortality
TLDR
The mixture of nitrogen with phosphine can be a suitable fumigant for decreasing phosphine under ambient storage conditions in penetration and empty-space fumIGations.
Population of the Sweetpotato Whitefly in Response to Different Rates of Three Sulfur-Containing Fertilizers on Ten Vegetable Crops
TLDR
The results from this study support that in certain sulfur-containing fertilizers, populations of the sweetpotato whitefly can be affected in several vegetable crops.
Nitrogen fertilization sources and insecticidal activity of aqueous seeds extract of Carica papaya against Spodoptera frugiperda in maize
TLDR
The results indicated that vermicompost helped seed germination on a relation 3:1 from black soil and verMicompost, while the emergence was 100%, and the estimation of damage caused by S. frugiperda larvae on maize was 29.6%.
Biomasses of Arthropod Taxa Differentially Increase on Nitrogen‐Fertilized Willows and Cottonwoods
TLDR
Soil application of nitrogen fertilizer to 1-year-old, flood-irrigated Salix exigua willows and Populus fremontii cottonwoods is evaluated for increasing arthropod abundances and biomasses available to insectivorous birds.
Bottom‐up effects mediated by an organic soil amendment on the cabbage aphid pests Myzus persicae and Brevicoryne brassicae
TLDR
It is shown that vermicompost soil amendments can significantly influence pest aphid preference and performance on plants and that these effects are not dose dependent, but rather species and morph dependent.

Effect of Nitrogen Fertilization on Aphis gossypii (Homoptera: Aphididae): Variation in Size, Color, and Reproduction
TLDR
The nutritional quality of the host plant on which the parent generation feeds has a stronger effect on the aphids than that of the quality of their own food plants, which may dampen the effect short-term fluctuations in host plant quality have on aphid performance.
Midseason Pest Status of the Cotton Aphid (Homoptera: Aphididae) in California CottonIs Nitrogen a Key Factor?
TLDR
Recent cultural practices in California cotton include higher rates of nitrogen fertilization, which increases nitrogen content of plants, which is an important factor contributing to the increased severity of the cotton aphid as a pest of California cotton during the midseason.
Effect of soil potassium availability on soybean aphid (Hemiptera: Aphididae) population dynamics and soybean yield.
TLDR
It is suggested that although aphids can perform better on K-deficient plants, aphid abundance in the field may be dependent on additional factors, such as dispersal, that may affect final densities within plots.

STUDIES ON THE RELATIONS OF INSECT AND HOST PLANT
TLDR
Brevicoryne brassicae and Myzus persicae were caged on the mature leaves of brussels sprout plants receiving different amounts of nitrogen and potassium, causing an increase in soluble nitrogen levels in the leaves and a markedly lower response to nutrient treatments.

Tending Ants Protect Honeydew-Producing Whiteflies (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae)
TLDR
The results suggest that the honeydew-gathering activity by tending ants is an important factor mediating such multitrophic interaction between whiteflies and ants on shrubs of Croton floribundus in southeast Brazil.
Behavior of Solenopsis invicta (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in Pecan Orchards
TLDR
Orchards provide an important habitat for the red imported fire ant, Solenopsis invicta Buren, and orchards from middle to southern Georgia were heavily infested, and S. Invicta was a major predator of eggs, larvae, and pupae of a green lacewing, Chrysoperla rufilabris, but had little effect on the eggs of Hippodamia convergens Guerin-Meneville.
