Intestinal ischemia impairs gastrointestinal motility. The aims of this study were to investigate the effect of intestinal ischemia on gastrointestinal transit and on the expression of enteric transmitters in the rat, and whether the glutamate N-methyl-d-aspartate receptors influence these effects.
