Lupinus species and their derivatives are good candidates to be used as hypoglycaemic agents. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of supplementation with Lupinus albus dry extract in type 2 diabetic patients. The study included 47 adult patients (21 men and 26 women) with type 2 diabetes. While consuming their usual medication, patients received a daily dose of 400 mg of Lupinus albus dry extract during 12 weeks. Fasting and post meal test glucose and insulin were measured at…

Assessing of Antidiabetic and Ameliorative Effect of Lupin Seed Aqueous Extract on Hyperglycemia, Hyperlipidemia and Effect on pdx1, Nkx6.1, Insulin-1, GLUT-2 and Glucokinase Genes Expression in Streptozotocin-induced Diabetic Rats
LA seed extract is highlighted as a nutraceutical for improving insulin secretion in diabetic rats and induces a mild increase in expression of biomarkers genes for pancreatic βeta cells (β-cells) function, insulin secretion, liver GLUT-2 and glucokinase when compared to STZ-diabetic rats.
Dietary effects of the inclusion of white lupine seeds and different types of binders on the blood indicators of young Dwarf Lop rabbits
The dietary inclusion of white lupine seeds resulted in beneficial health effects on certain blood indicators of rabbits, and their use in the proportion of 25% in the pre-weaning diet and 20% inThe post- weaning diet can be recommended as a suitable feed additive for dwarf rabbits.
The Protective Effect of Chickpea and Lupine variety on rats with fatty liver
: Effect of Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) and lupin (Lupinus spp.) on fatty liver, (56) rats were divided into two main groups. The first group (7 rats) fed on basal diet, as a control negative. The

Proximate composition, lipid and phenolic profiles, and antioxidant activity of different ecotypes of Lupinus albus, Lupinus luteus and lupinus angustifolius
Lupine seed represents an interesting, non-genetically modified, and low cost alternative to soybean as an important source of protein and oil. In this study, we compare seed protein, mineral, fiber

Lupin seed γ-conglutin lowers blood glucose in hyperglycaemic rats and increases glucose consumption of HepG2 cells
In this in vitro model, the addition of γ-conglutin potentiated the activity of insulin and metformin in cell glucose consumption in HepG2 cells, under all experimental conditions; this effect was more evident after 48 h incubation.
Effect of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) intake on glycemia: a meta-analysis of clinical trials
Results from clinical trials support beneficial effects of fenugreek seeds on glycemic control in persons with diabetes, however, trials with higher methodology quality using a well characterized fenUGreek preparation of sufficient dose are needed to provide more conclusive evidence.

Lupin protein positively affects plasma LDL cholesterol and LDL:HDL cholesterol ratio in hypercholesterolemic adults after four weeks of supplementation: a randomized, controlled crossover study
25 g LPI can beneficially modulate plasma LDL cholesterol at least over short-term, and using appropriate dietetic conditions that improve consumer compliance and avoid changes in energy intake as well as in body composition is recommended.
Cholesterol-lowering effects of dietary lupin (Lupinus albus var multolupa) in chicken diets.
The results indicate that inclusion of lupin seed in chicken diets causes a growth depression and a reduction of serum cholesterol and glucose and modifies other physiological parameters.
Lupin and soya reduce glycaemia acutely in type 2 diabetes
Adding lupin or soya to a carbohydrate-rich beverage reduces glycaemia acutely in type 2 diabetic individuals and may have a beneficial role in glycaemic management.
It is concluded that the use of Lupinus albus among various communities may not be effective in treating hyperglycaemia in type 1 diabetes but effective for treating diabetes induced dyslipidemia.
Lupin seeds lower plasma lipid concentrations and normalize antioxidant parameters in rats
This study was designed to test bitter and sweet lupin seeds for lipid-lowering and for their antioxidative activities in hypercholesterolemic rats. The levels of plasma lipid, malondialdehyde (MDA)
