Litter material may affect ammonia emission in livestock buildings due to differences in NH3 and water adsorption capacity, the rate of their further release as well as the ongoing biochemical processes. There is very few research data on ammonia emission for chicken buildings and even less for turkey production. In growing/finishing turkey barns birds remain much longer than in broiler houses.
