The major purpose of this study is to investigate the potential of Centratherum anthelminticum in the treatment of renal calculi. Petroleum ether, chloroform and alcoholic extracts of Centratherum anthelminticum seeds were evaluated for antiurolithiatic activity. In the present study, hyperoxaluria was induced by chronic administration of 0.75% (v/v) ethylene glycol aqueous solution to male Wistar rats. Urine Oxalate, calcium and phosphate excretion were measured in calculi-induced animals. BUN…
Globally used antiurolithiatic plants of family Asteraceae: Historical background, mechanism of action, therapeutic spectrum, formulations with doses
TLDR
This review covers the eighty (80) medicinal plants of most cited family Asteraceae against urolithiasis along with their historical antiurolithiatc background shared in well-known books of Dioscorides, Pliny the Elder, Al Razi and Ibn Sina.

Diuretic activity of extracts of Centratherum anthelminticum
TLDR
A potent diuretic and electrolyte excretion activity of chloroform and alcohol extracts of C. anthelminticum seeds is observed, suggesting the possible traditional use of this plant in hypertension as diuretics are used in the management of hypertension.
Effect of cystone, a herbal formulation, on glycolic acid‐induced urolithiasis in rats
TLDR
Simultaneous oral treatment with cystone significantly reversed the glycolic acid‐induced urolithiasis, presumably by preventing the urinary supersaturation of lithogenic substances, especially of oxalate and calcium.
Evaluation of Analgesic and Antipyretic Activities of Centratherum anthelminticum (L) Kuntze Seed
TLDR
Both petroleum ether and alcohol extracts showed significant decrease in number of writhes in acetic acid-induced writhing and increase in paw licking time to heat stimuli in the hot plate method.
Antihyperglycemic activity of polyphenolic components of black/bitter cumin Centratherum anthelminticum (L.) Kuntze seeds
TLDR
It is demonstrated that CA exerts antihyperglycemic effect by decreasing postprandial glucose in rats by modulating α- amylase and glucosidases (sucrase and maltase) activity and thus may be useful for the management of diabetes mellitus.
A Comparative Study on Vrikka Samrakshanatmaka and Ashmarighna Effect of Tiladi Kshara and Varunadi Ghrita (Nephroprotective and Lithotripsic effect)
TLDR
The result in the context of the objective of the study emerges that Varunadi Ghrita possess moderate nephroprotective activity, but the study could not provide basis for its relevance to the probable efficacy of the test drug in kidney stone induced nephropathy.
Oxalate and calcium oxalate mediated free radical toxicity in renal epithelial cells: effect of antioxidants
TLDR
It is concluded that oxalate associated free radical injury may promote stone formation by providing cellular debris for crystal nucleation and aggregation and augment crystal attachment to other tubular cells.
Uric acid nephrolithiasis.
Prophylaxis of calcium oxalate stones by Herniaria hirsuta on experimentally induced nephrolithiasis in rats
To evaluate the prophylactic potential of a herbal decoction from Herniaria hirsuta, a medicinal plant widely used in Morocco to treat kidney stones, by assessing the effect of oral administration in
Proximate Composition, Mineral Content, and Fatty Acids of Catfish (Ictalurus punctatus, Rafinesque) for Different Seasons and Cooking Methods
The effect of conventional cooking methods and the influence of season upon proximate composition, mineral, and fatty acid profile was studied in catfish (Ictalurus punctatus, Rafinesque) fillets.
