The major purpose of this study is to investigate the potential of Centratherum anthelminticum in the treatment of renal calculi. Petroleum ether, chloroform and alcoholic extracts of Centratherum anthelminticum seeds were evaluated for antiurolithiatic activity. In the present study, hyperoxaluria was induced by chronic administration of 0.75% (v/v) ethylene glycol aqueous solution to male Wistar rats. Diuretic activity of extracts of Centratherum anthelminticum
A potent diuretic and electrolyte excretion activity of chloroform and alcohol extracts of C. anthelminticum seeds is observed, suggesting the possible traditional use of this plant in hypertension as diuretics are used in the management of hypertension.
