Effect of [D-Ala2,Met5]enkephalinamide and [D-Ala2,D-Leu5]enkephalin on cholinergic and noradrenergic neurotransmission in isolated atria.

In rabbit isolated atria, [D-Ala2,Met5]enkephalinamide and [D-Ala2,D-Leu5]enkephalin (0.1-3 microM) inhibited responses to cholinergic nerve stimulation in a concentration-dependent manner without affecting responses to exogenous acetylcholine. The inhibitory effect was blocked by the opiate receptor antagonist naloxone (1 microM). In rabbit atria in which… (More)
